All those little moments that go far too quickly.
Time has flown by quickly. I remember when there were ten tiny toes and ten tiny fingers when there were small little noises of a sleeping toddler snuggled tightly into his crib for the night. Those moments of little pitter-patters on the kitchen floor running across to the living room to wake me up for breakfast—all those “adventures” and explorations in the backyard of your childhood.
Moments.
Cherished moments.
Moments that I thought would drag on forever, and yet, here we are. You are 14, and moments are fleeting. All those morning drives, all those hugs needed, all those scraps needing mending, and all those moments where being mom happened so slowly; yet here we are moments rushing by.
There is so much life that has been lived. There are so many decisions made, and different life courses taken by both of us. Those moments that are defining points on the road you are taking to becoming a man. Small decisions will lead to big decisions.
I just hope that my decisions to get you to this point will serve as a solid foundation and not something that tarnishes and hurts your heart for future endeavors and relationships.
Relationships are messy.
Relationships are needed.
Relationships refine someone.
Relationships edify the soul.
Relationships can try to break you.
But…
Relationships can mend you and heal you. Trust me I know of the soul-deep relationship kind and the soulmate kind. It is something I never thought I would fully feel on this side of heaven, but here we are young one. There are second chances from the only one who can truly give them.
It warms my heart that you have found Him and have a relationship with Him. I hope He is gracious in this young one and that He provides you with someone who loves you as patiently and deeply as He has tried to teach me.
It took me two chances to find that kind of love and life partner. My prayer is that my discernment is not cast aside by me, and you only ever find your one, true partner if that is in your future.
So, to more fleeting moments. To more unknowns…
